Winter is an easy time to get depressed, particularly in a city like Berlin where you’re basically in an ice wind cave for several weeks. During these times I reminisce about summer, and particularly the summers of 1993 and 1994. Music drove so much of my development back then, and I had parallel discoveries with hip hop and punk simultaneously. This is a mixtape of my favorite hip hop tracks from this particular time period. It reminds me of skating with friends, loitering outside of malls and gas stations, causing trouble, riding busses, getting chased by security guards…
